What We Stand For

The Constitution
We all swore an oath to uphold and defend the principles outlined in our Constitution, which is the foundation of our democracy and freedoms. We remain bound to defend the Constitution against all threats, foreign and domestic. That oath never expires.

The Rule of Law
We believe in the rule of law, and that there is no one who is above the law.

We strongly support our professional law enforcement agencies, and believe that their missions can be accomplished within the framework of laws established by Congress and States, and that all citizens deserve due process, and freedom from restraint of their civil rights or intimidation. We support law enforcement in the execution of lawful orders and professional restraint in the use of authority.

Support for the Military
We strongly support our military, and believe that their missions can be accomplished within the framework of the laws of warfare and the rules enacted by the United States Congress.  This includes the approval of Congress to engage in warfare, and enforcement of restrictions on the Executive’s time-and-situationally-limited ability to use force without the approval of Congress.  Ambiguous or unlawful use-of-force decisions place an unfair burden on those in uniform.

Advocating for Veterans
We stand up for the rights and interests of those who served our country, fighting for the benefits, healthcare, and respect veterans have earned.  This includes addressing moral injury and long-term mental health impacts that can result from ethically complex or prolonged operations.  We oppose efforts to undermine theVA.

Human and Civil Rights
We stand for dignity and equal rights for all Idahoans, regardless of background, believing that our diversity strengthens our state.  We believe that human rights include the right to freedom from threats or intimidation from the government.

Free Speech
We defend the right to express opinions without fear of censorship or retaliation, recognizing that open dialogue is essential to democracy.  When elected representatives fail to protect this right, they need to be called to account.

Individual Privacy
We respect each citizen's right to privacy and oppose unwarranted government intrusion into personal lives.

True Representation
Veterans for Idaho Voters identifies and supports candidates and officials who commit to serving the interests of their constituents, rather than those of special interest groups or partisan agendas.   We commit to holding elected officials accountable to their constituents’ interests. True representation requires respect for voters, transparency, and acceptance of lawful election outcomes.

Right to Vote

Veterans for Idaho Voters supports the right of Veterans, and all Idahoans, to vote in all publicly funded elections regardless of their affiliation status (either unaffiliated or with a political party).  We encourage voter turnout for all elections.
